It’s Long, Hard, and Will Give You a Sugar Rush. What Is It??

What is Long, Hard, and Will Give You a Sugar Rush.

It is the sugarcane!

Sugarcane, 甘(ɡān)蔗(zhè) (scientific name: Saccharum officinarum) is widely planted in southern tropical areas of China such as Fujian, Guangdong, Hainan, Guangxi, Sichuan, and Yunnan.

It’s become so popular in these regions that it’s seen (and eaten) as a leisure fruit among the Chinese.

Sugarcane is suitable for planting in fertile soil, with sunshine either in the winter or the summer. Sucrose is made from this raw material, which is grown in more than one hundred countries around the world. Its biggest producers are Brazil, India, and China.

Sugarcane is rich in sugar, water, and contains a variety of vitamins that are very beneficial to our metabolism.

 How can you eat it?

No. 1

Some people prefer to tear it with their teeth… it makes them look like a boss!

Take a big bite, spit, and absorb the sweet juice.

No. 2

Cut the sugarcane into small pieces.

No. 3

Just drink sugarcane juice.

Have you tried it before?

It’s so sweeeeet, I love it!

No.4 Fire roast sugarcane

Some southerners like to “barbecue” it.

Vaporize some of the water to make the sugar more viscous – it tastes delicious.

No 5. Sweet water

After you use the above methods to put the sugarcane in your mouth, keep chewing and suck the sugarcane juice out of it. Only when it starts to taste bland can you spit it out; that means you’ve successfully gotten all the sweetness out of it!

A lot of foreigners in China have had mixed feelings about this strange “snack” eaten as a long stick, and most of them never really knew how to eat it properly the first time they tried it.

“I’ve never bitten on anything so hard!”

When sugarcane is in season and supermarkets have discounts on it, it’s not uncommon to see this! Hahahaha

Warning:

If the sugarcane turned red,

that means it has gone bad.

Do not eat this kind of sugarcane!

Speaking of sugarcane reminds me of my cousin when she was 6 years old and I was 7.

One day, my mom bought sugarcane and gave her a small piece for her to chew on because we thought she’d tried it before.

But after putting it in her mouth, she burst into tears and said: “It’s so hard to swallow!”

Have you tried sugarcane before?

How do you like it?
