As fitness continues to be viewed as an integral part of our lives, it’s common to see a lot of young people exercise outside or at the gym.
But against all odds, this 73-year-old woman took everyone by surprise – PARTICULARLY the younger ones.
She‘s not only trim but also full of energy and spirit that rivals that of 20-somethings.
Originally from Tianjin, her name is Bai Jinqin.
She’s gone so viral that Chinese social media channels rushed to get an interview from her these years.
Nowadays, it’s easy to overlook our own health given our stacked work schedules and, to be quite honest, our lack of motivation.
Grandma Bei, too, was on that deteriorating boat back in the day when she used to work in Finance. She’s suffered from Endometrial hyperplasia, dermatomyositis, cholesteatoma, etc.
Speaking of why she started working out, she said, “We don’t truly understand the meaning of health until we lose it.”
In 2005, at the age of 60, her illness had turned into cancer and had to have her uterus removed to save her life.
To her, as it should be to everyone, age is just a number.
At the age of 60, grandma Bai started to learn how to become (and stay) fit. She’s maintained that lifestyle for the next 13 years.
“I may not be as healthy as younger people, but I have a strong will and I take every workout very seriously,” she said during an interview. “I don’t waste a single minute and make the most out of the time I have.”
More and more young consumers are becoming completely addicted to their phones, to the point where the only part of their body that they exercise the most is their thumb. But grandma Bai, well… she’s leading by example!
In addition to exercising, she pays close attention to her diet, eating only healthy and natural foods and spending time cooking for herself.
Her story is truly inspiring and has motivated other younger individuals to join the fitness/active lifestyle wagon.
After 13 years, her physical strength and lung capacity have improved dramatically, which have also positively affected her mental well-being.
“No one can really retain their youth.
All we can do is age gracefully.
But it takes a lot of effort to age gracefully.”
And if her story proves anything, it’s that it’s never too late to get started and take ownership of your own life and health.
Some people came across her on the street and took a picture.
What do you think of grandma Bai? Do you exercise a lot?
What types of activities do you participate in?
We can’t stop the ages, but we can choose how to live.
