It’s pretty stereotypical that when we think of porters we instantly think of hardworking men, right?
In 2017, a netizen uploaded a video of a female porter showing off her muscles carrying a heavy load.
The work of a porter is very manual including lifting and carrying very heavy stuff and running around. Nowadays, many young men aren’t willing to do it, let alone a beautiful young woman.
Zhu Qianpei.
Previously working as an office clerk, she got tired of the mundane 8-5 office life.
She saw an advertisement in the newspaper for a porter position and applied.
The interviewer took one look at her and told her to go.
She said nothing, bent down, and hurled a heavy box upon her shoulder. Impressed with her strength and tenacity, he hired her.
Zhu Qianpei has been there for over 10 years now.
Her story instantly went viral.
Local brands and shows interviewed her and offered endorsements.
But true to any internet fame, many people doubted her.
People believed she was just seizing the opportunity to become famous and change her life.
Zhu answers back with, “no, I know what I want and I enjoy my job.”
A porter is seen as a helpless choice by most people, but in Zhu Qianpei’s eyes, those goods are easier to deal with than people.
“You can exercise while moving things, and you can run with the car and be free!” Zhu said after being questioned about her claims to fame.
When she returned to Hong Kong, she still went to work, moved goods and delivered goods on time every day.
One TV show followed her on a one-day delivery trip.
Starting at 8 a.m., she goes to the warehouse to check the goods, move them to her car, and then makes deliveries to different stores.
The truck is hot and stuffy and she is always sweaty when transporting the goods. The work is very intense.
Her “lunch break” is in the car as she’s parked on the street or in a parking lot quickly eating out of a to-go container. Her job never stops, she hustles from 8 am until 9 pm every day.
Zhu even shared with some TV stations insider her personal life showing her tiny rented apartment in Hong Kong.
“I love this industry, regardless of the occupation, regardless of gender, whoever has a dream is great,” Zhu said while talking about career planning. “I plan to become a supervisor in the future.
When it comes to love, she has her own clear standards, “be a man and keep your feet on the ground and don’t think about making quick money.”
Everyone has their own dreams, no matter how big or small.
Remember to be determined and always chase your dreams!
