Have you seen the recently released “Captain Marvel”? The American superhero movies have a worldwide reputation and even built their own superhero movie universe. In fact, there are also “superheroes” in Chinese culture, so what “superheroes” are there in China?

“Monkey King” Sun Wukong

Sun Wukong is one of the famous mythical figures in China. It is written by one of the four famous masterpieces, <Journey to the West>. He was born from a piece of spiritual stone. He was king in the Huaguo Mountain and was honored as the “Monkey King.” Later, he worshipped the Master Puti as a teacher and learned the supernatural powers. He caused havoc in heaven then he was pressed for five hundred years under the Wuzhi Mountain. After he passed the Guanyin’s instructions, he was rescued by Tang San Zang, and protect Tang San Zang and get the scripture from the Western Heaven. Sun Wukong is intelligent, lively,and loyal.He represents bright and courage in folk culture. In these folk myths of the past, Sun Wukong was regarded as a god by the Chinese.

“WuSheng” GuanYu

Guan Yu was a famous general and the Chinese Wu Sheng(god-man of fight)of ShuHan. He and Liu Bei，Zhang Fei were sworn brothers. He used to Slash HuaXiong’s head before the wine gets cold and crossed five passes and slaying six generals,This shows how superb his martial arts. He is also the head of the “five-tiger generals” in the novels of the Three Kingdoms.

Yue Fei was an eminent general during the southern song dynasty. born into a poor family, he was studious, brave and intelligent. he was especially devoted to his mother. before his departure to defend his country against the jin army, his mother tattooed four characters ‘jin zhong bao guo’ on his back to exhort him to serve his homeland with loyalty. he fought the jin army with great courage for ten years and won every battle. he has become a national hero for his bravery.

“Genghis Khan” Temujin

Genghis Khan ,his original name is Temujin（also spelled Temuchin), Mongolian warrior-ruler, one of the most famous conquerors of history, who consolidated tribes into a unified Mongolia and then extended his empire across Asia to the Adriatic Sea.

Genghis Khan was a warrior and ruler of genius who, starting from obscure and insignificant beginnings, brought all the nomadic tribes of Mongolia under the rule of himself and his family in a rigidly disciplined military state.

He then turned his attention toward the settled peoples beyond the borders of his nomadic realm and began the series of campaigns of plunder and conquest that eventually carried the Mongol armies as far as the Adriatic Sea in one direction and the Pacific coast of China in the other, leading to the establishment of the great Mongol Empire.
