Student Accepted to China’s Top University,Doesn’t Have WeChat?

I think you must know Tsinghua University, right?

It’s many students’ dream school as a top university in China. This year, according to a world university ranking data, Tsinghua University ranked 17th in the world.

The college entrance examination is the most important talent selection method in China. It has a significant impact on the life of every student. The dream of many is to get a good score and get into a good university.

I really admire those accepted to Tsinghua University.

Today we are going to talk about an outstanding student from Tsinghua University.

Shan Xiaolong, a 19-year-old boy from a poor family in Xiji County, Ningxia Hua autonomous region. Both his parents are farmers and come from a long line of farmers. His mother has been ill for years, so he has been a high hope for his family to succeed. He studies so hard.

Last year, he was accepted by the electronic information major of Tsinghua University with an excellent score of 676!

He is the first student from his hometown to ever be accepted to Tsinghua University, so this is undoubtedly great news for his family.

When he received the news, he was still working at a construction site in his hometown.

He started working part-time at this constructions site in order to help his family with some of the financial burdens. Every day he arrived on site at 9 am to move 12,000 kilograms of steel bars and other strenuous manual labor.

Often times, he was extremely tired but he kept going. He was determined to fulfill his dream of being accepted into a university and providing a different life for him and his family.

He spent most of his time outside of working part-time, studying.

His classmates didn’t even have his WeChat!

His mobile phone was so old that he was unable to use this function. His father used the phone for 3 years and then it was passed down to him as a way for him to communicate with his father who worked outside.

While many of his classmates were buying the newest smartphones, Xiaolong was only in class learning. He wanted to change his fate and studying for hours and hours was his only hope.

Now that he’s accepted to one of the best universities in the country, he’s used some money from his part-time job to buy himself a newer mobile phone!

Everyone here at GiC is so proud of Xiaolong for working hard to get where he wants to be. We’re so excited to see what the future holds for him and wish him the best in his new life at Tsinghua University.
