Recently, there’s been some heated discussion on the internet over one woman’s company bonus.
Miss. Li joined a company in Shenzhen a few months ago. While attending the companies annual party, she won the lucky draw lottery which was 110,000 RMB!!!
Wow…Miss Li thought she was soooooo lucky!
However, things went south quickly. First, the company’s director transferred her 20,000rmb and noted that he would send the remaining 90,000RMB soon.
Two months later and with no additional payment, Miss. Li was fired from her job.
She applied for labor arbitration and a reporter went to her former company for an interview. The company claimed there were unwritten rules that the annual payment of bonuses is under. After no agreement was reached, Miss Li decided to take the company to court.
In the Nanshan District people’s court in Shenzhen, Miss. Li providedWeChat screenshots, videos, and text material to support her case.
The court said that the lucky draw offered by the employer to all employees at the annual company meeting should belong to the bonus treatment of employees. Meaning, the employer shall pay the remaining bonus to Miss Li.
The company has appealed against the verdict of the court.
Chinese netizens saw this news and shared their opinions below:
“Since the company doesn’t want to give a bonus, why draw a lottery?”
“The winner was already determined but something went wrong in the lottery and Miss. Li won the bonus”.
